Immunohistochemical Study of the Aldosterone Secreting Cell Change in the Adrenal Gland of the Water-Deprived Mongolian Gerbil(Meriones Unguiculatus)

Abstract
In this study of the long term water deprived condition, we investigated the aldosterone secreting cell of mongolian gerbil adrenal gland by using a quantitive immunohistochemistry : normal, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 days water deprived mongolian gerbil.
The results obtained in this study were summarized as following:
1. Aldosterone immunoreactive cells were mainly observed in glomerular layer.
2. The aldosterone secreting cells were abruptly decreased until the 2nd day and the 3th day increased the 4th day decreased and the 5th day secreting cells number abruptly increased.
The 5th day secreting cells number became as normal.
3. The 10th day aldosterone secreting cells decreased again and 15th day observed a few.
4. After 20th day aldosterone secreting cell not observed.
Maybe, the reason of mongolian gerbil endure long term water deprived condition was very slowly increased and decreased aldosterone secret.
